What is Dark Lip Neutralisation?

To address darkened, pigmented discoloured lips, we use a professional neutralising method which enables us to counteract the dark hues with warm hues, creating a natural looking flesh/pink toned lip
How Does it Work?
Cosmetic Tattoo! This semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo method allows us to deflect the dark hues in the lips to produce a really natural pink toned lip.
Results can last anywhere between 3-5 years depending on your skins ability to retain the colour. A simple touch up will help carry the results much longer!
How many sessions will I need?
Dark Lip Neutralising can be tricky to master, and results definitely vary between each client. Majority of treatments will take a minimum of 3-4 sessions, with some expecting to see a noticeable change after 6 sessions. Although it is rare, SOME lucky clients will have great success after only 1 session!

What's The Process?
On the day, we ask you to pre-numb your lips 1 hour prior with a store bought anaesthetic cream such as EMLA or Numit. This will speed up the numbing so that we can start your treatment promptly once you get to the clinic.
After a thorough consultation to assess if this treatment is suitable and you are aware of the aftercare instructions to ensure a successful treatment, we will begin to outline the lips, working with you to ensure the desired shape in achieved in the treatment. NOTE: We cannot change the shape of your lips with this method, but we can create more definition.
Once you are satisfied with the proposed lip outline, we will begin the cosmetic tattooing process. We choose shades that will appropriately deflect the dark hues in your lips - the shade is customised to ensure you get the best result possible out of every treatment.
NOTE: When we treat for dark lip colour correction, we do not use your desired colour directly, as this will not truly show on dark lips. We must first neutralise the base and then we can add your desired lip colour!
How Long Does It Last?: Anywhere between 3-5 years, and much longer with the appropriate care and touch ups. You may not even desire a touch up after 5 years depending on how well your skin retains the colour
What's The Healing Process?
DAY 1: Immediately after you may experience some swelling, warmth and tenderness in the lip area. You will be given an ice pack to help the swelling subside. Swelling and tenderness may last up to 24 hours after the treatment. You will be advised of the aftercare gel that will help speed up with recovery process and also help to retain the colour.

DAY 2-3: The lips dry up and darken
DAY 3-5: The lips will begin to PEEL and FLAKE, taking away the majority of colour from the treatment in the peeling process. THIS IS NORMAL AND EXPECTED. The lips will look like they were not ever treated after the peeling stage.
What happens next?
Over the duration of 2-6 weeks, the lips will change colour daily. The pigmentation for the cosmetic tattoo will resurface and show, changing the lip colour daily. Some days the lips will look bright, some days dark, and some days it will look like nothing had changed.
The end result of the first treatment will truly show at 6-8 weeks. You will return for an assessment and we generally retreat at this time too.
